Andrew Sims came to the Albuquerque Convention Center from Peoria, Illinois. There he worked for the SMG-managed Peoria Civic Center as the Operations Manager. Andrew has over 13 years of experience with SMG and public assembly management. His variety of experiences with SMG has been in roles such as house services, security, event services, operations, housekeeping, construction and facility management. In Peoria, Andrew’s oversight included a 12,000-seat arena, 110,000 sq ft of exhibit space, 30,000 sq ft ballroom, 18 divisible meeting rooms, 80,000 sq ft of pre-function space and a 2,200-seat theater. There he also managed the day-to-day construction schedules of a $55M renovation project.



Andrew attended Illinois Central College and DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. Andrew is working towards his Certified Facility Managers (CFM) certification. He is currently a member of the local Albuquerque chapter of NMFMN. He is also a member of IFMA, IAAM and STAR. He was recognized as a Certified Ice Technician and has several years of experience in the ice maintenance industry.


Outside of work, Andrew enjoys sporting activities such as hiking, running and mountain biking. He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as traveling around the United States. Andrew spends much devoted time to his church family at Sagebrush Community Church in Albuquerque. Community service is another dedication Andrew has with Albuquerque by spending time cleaning the downtown area on clean-up days and serving lunch to the homeless.
